Hi, I’m Stuart Marshall.

I’m an independent developer based in Glasgow, Scotland, working across the web, iOS, and macOS.

Since 2017, I’ve been making focused software and websites through Shaking the Habitual. I’m drawn to projects where good structure, thoughtful interaction, and a little visual restraint can make everyday work feel easier.

The studio is home to a growing collection of apps, each made to do one useful thing well.

Earlier work

A long-standing interest in useful tools.

Before the current collection of apps, I developed products for RapidWeaver and its Stacks ecosystem. As part of that I created Source, a 'micro' framework for Stacks that has been used to build hundreds of websites around the world.

Back in 2017 I created my first app: Versus (Advanced scorekeeper). I learned Swift via various courses online to build it. A second version of it was published in 2025.
