Timelined v1.4.0

Timelined is all about dates, so version 1.4.0 puts them firmly in the spotlight.

We have put a lot of work into tidying up how dates are entered and displayed throughout the app. The aim is to make adding events quicker, reduce the chance of inconsistent dates, and give you more control over how dates appear in your timelines and exports.

Many of these improvements were driven by your suggestions, so thank you to everyone who shared feedback!

Improved date entry

The Add/Edit Event screen now only shows the date pickers that apply to the selected date precision. This keeps the form focused and avoids asking for detail that the event does not need.
You can now choose the default date precision for new events in Settings. Individual events can still use a different precision when required.
An event's end date can no longer be set before its start date.
When adding an end date, its initial value is now taken from the start date. This provides a more useful starting point and makes the actual end date quicker to select.

Improved date display

The Timeline and Timeline by Year views now show both start and end dates for events that have an end date. These dates use the same detailed presentation already found in the Timeline List view and respect each event's selected date precision.
A new setting lets you display dates as Text, which retains the existing behaviour, or use the numeric DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY formats. Your chosen date format is used consistently throughout the app and in exports.
You can now use a fixed-width font for the date and time values shown on the left of the Timeline and Timeline by Year views.

Tip: The fixed-width font works particularly well with a numeric format such as DD/MM/YYYY, helping the dates line up neatly and making a timeline easier to scan.

Other improvements

You can now remove an assigned event Type by selecting No type.
The description field in Add/Edit Event now displays Description as a placeholder, making the field easier to identify when it is empty.
